Sustainability
At Samed Resorts Group, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Guided by our core values—”SAMED”: Sustainability, Awareness, Minimisation, Engagement, and Development—we inspire conscious, responsible action across our team and community. We are dedicated to conserving nature, uplifting local culture, and delivering unforgettable guest experiences in harmony with the environment.
Thoughtful Design for a Sustainable Future
At Samed Resorts, every stay reflects a thoughtful choice for a more sustainable future. Our resorts are carefully designed to preserve Koh Samet’s pristine environment. Instead of clearing existing vegetation, we strategically positioned our buildings around mature trees, maintaining the island’s natural canopy and ecosystem. Every structure blends seamlessly with the landscape, allowing guests to fully experience the island’s natural beauty.
Inside, our spaces are designed to breathe—filled with natural light, fresh air, and clean, calming simplicity. Each room is thoughtfully crafted with materials that are safe, durable, and environmentally friendly. Locally made details bring warmth, character, and a sense of place.

Wildlife Conservation Partnership
In 2024, Samed Resorts Group, in partnership with the Hornbill Association of Thailand, began supporting hornbill conservation on Koh Samet by installing four artificial nest cavities across Paradee, Le Vimarn, and Baan Ploy Sea. Each location is now home to one breeding pair, with the nests providing safe, secure environments for nesting and raising their young—helping preserve the island’s natural balance and enhance biodiversity.

From Farm to Table
Our thoughtfully cultivated organic garden boasts a variety of vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers—such as fresh salad leaves, rosemary, Thai bitterleaf, and edible flowers—delivered straight from the farm to your dish. We use only organic methods, turning food waste into nutrient-rich compost to nourish the soil in a perfect circular system. This ensures that every agricultural product is fresh and chemical-free for a healthy and safe dining experience.
Our Commitment to a Greener Future
We are dedicated to sustainable tourism, with a strong focus on energy efficiency to reduce electricity consumption and lower our carbon footprint. Every month, we carefully manage resources, minimise waste, and nurture green spaces, all while tracking our progress to continuously improve our environmental impact.
Water Stewardship
Our state-of-the-art water treatment and recycling system transforms wastewater into a valuable resource. This approach significantly reduces our reliance on the island’s natural freshwater sources while maintaining lush, vibrant resort landscapes. Recycled water is carefully used to irrigate gardens and trees, ensuring healthy greenery throughout the resorts, all in full alignment with environmental standards.
Waste Management
Our holistic waste management programme turns what would be discarded into valuable resources, fostering a circular and sustainable system:
Organic Waste Recovery
- Food scraps from our restaurants are transformed into nutrient-rich compost for our organic gardens.
- Garden clippings and natural debris are converted into soil amendments, enhancing the fertility and health of our landscapes.
Recycling & Upcycling Programmes
- Glass, plastic, and metal are carefully sorted and sent to certified recycling facilities on the mainland.
- Paper and cardboard become packaging materials for our local community partnerships.
Plastic Upcycling Initiative
Our plastic injection moulding machine transforms plastic bottle caps into useful items such as keychains and figurines. This initiative not only reduces plastic waste and promotes sustainability but also invites guests to participate in the upcycling process, turning discarded materials into valuable, tangible creations while learning about responsible environmental practices.
Supporting Our Local Community
We partner with local organisations to promote sustainable tourism by supporting the local economy, sharing products, and supporting those that preserve Koh Samet’s natural beauty.
Thai Mangrove Community Forests Day
On 12 April 2025, we joined a nature restoration initiative, planting 300 mangrove trees at the Mangrove Resource Management Centre in Noen Kho, Klaeng, Rayong. This initiative contributes to expanding green spaces and supporting a healthy ecosystem for the future.
National Forest Conservation Day
On 14 January 2024, we donate 100 native tree seedlings to Khao Laem Ya–Mu Ko Samet National Park to prevent beach erosion and help preserve the island’s natural landscape.
Green Market
Held every year during June and July, this initiative empowers staff to share eco-friendly products with the Koh Samet community, fostering enduring economic opportunities and sustainable lifestyles.
Eco-Friendly Products for the Community
We share natural, eco-friendly cleaning solutions with local communities and provide training on their preparation and use—encouraging safer, sustainable household practices.
Staff Activities
Each week, our team engages in various environmental initiatives across Koh Samet, fostering a culture of sustainability and community involvement.
